Weight Loss Management Q&A

Weight management is healthcare not a willpower problem

If you have tried dieting, exercising, cutting out foods you enjoy, or starting over every Monday, you already know that weight loss is not as simple as “just eat less.” Weight can be affected by metabolism, hormones, sleep, stress, mental health, medications, family history, medical conditions, insulin resistance, and the demands of everyday life.

At Swift Solutions Medical Center, Nadine provides a respectful, judgment-free approach to medical weight management. There is no shaming and no one-size-fits-all plan. The focus is on understanding your health, identifying barriers, setting meaningful goals, and creating a treatment plan you can realistically maintain.

Whether you are just starting, restarting after setbacks, or looking for structured support while using weight-loss medication, you deserve care that sees the full picture.

Who can benefit from medical weight management?

Medical weight management may be appropriate for patients who are:

  • Concerned about weight gain or difficulty losing weight
  • Living with obesity or overweight-related health concerns
  • Managing insulin resistance, prediabetes, or metabolic concerns
  • Seeking support while starting or continuing weight-loss medication
  • Struggling with cravings, emotional eating, stress eating, or inconsistent habits
  • Managing PCOS, thyroid concerns, sleep difficulties, or other factors that may affect weight
  • Looking for accountability, structure, and professional follow-up
  • Ready to build sustainable habits without extreme dieting or shame

Nadine cares for patients of all ages. For children and adolescents, a parent or legal guardian should participate in the visit when appropriate, and treatment recommendations are individualized to the patient’s developmental and medical needs.

What happens during a medical weight-management visit?

Your visit starts with a conversation about more than the number on the scale. Nadine will review your health history, current medications, symptoms, weight goals, lifestyle, eating patterns, activity level, sleep, stress, prior weight-loss efforts, and any medical factors that may be affecting progress.

Your plan may include:

  • Individualized weight and health goals
  • Nutrition and activity guidance that fits your lifestyle
  • Review of sleep, stress, emotional wellness, and other barriers
  • Medication evaluation or refill management when clinically appropriate
  • Laboratory orders or review of available results when indicated
  • Ongoing progress tracking and accountability
  • Referral recommendations when a higher level of care or specialty support is needed

The goal is steady progress that supports your health—not pressure to be perfect.

Do you prescribe weight-loss medication?

Medication may be considered as one part of a comprehensive weight-management plan when clinically appropriate. Nadine will review your medical history, current medications, health conditions, goals, and available laboratory results to determine whether medication is a safe and appropriate option.

Weight-loss medication is not right for everyone, and medication alone is not a long-term plan. The best results come from combining appropriate medical treatment with consistent follow-up, nutrition, movement, sleep, and sustainable behavior changes.

How often are follow-up visits needed?

Monthly follow-up visits are available for patients who want ongoing support, progress review, medication management when appropriate, and accountability.

A three-month subscription program is also available for patients who want a structured 12-week approach with three scheduled visits, individualized planning, progress tracking, and consistent support.

Regular follow-up allows the care plan to be adjusted as your needs, results, or health circumstances change.

Will I need laboratory testing?

Possibly. Laboratory testing may be ordered or reviewed when clinically appropriate, especially when there are concerns related to metabolic health, medication safety, insulin resistance, thyroid function, or other health conditions affecting weight.

Current and relevant labs may also be needed before certain medication decisions can be made. If outside lab results are available, they can be submitted for review before or during your visit.

Can you help if stress, mood, or emotional eating affects my weight?

Yes. Nadine’s dual training in family medicine and psychiatric mental health allows her to consider the connection between physical health, mood, stress, sleep, cravings, emotional eating, and motivation.

Weight management should never ignore the emotional side of health. When stress, anxiety, depression, poor sleep, or life changes are affecting your progress, those concerns can be discussed as part of a thoughtful, whole-person plan.

Is this program about restrictive dieting?

No. Swift Solutions Medical Center does not promote shame, extreme restriction, or unrealistic promises. Your plan is built around practical changes that support your health and fit into your life.

Healthy progress may look different for every patient. For some, it may mean weight loss. For others, it may mean better energy, improved lab results, reduced cravings, more consistent routines, or feeling more confident and in control of their health.
